Rayno sits on the board of Directors as a shareholder. He has been with the company since 2003, originally working as an employee in the position of Sales Manager. At that time it was a far smaller enterprise, consisting of 1 branch with 6 staff members. In 2008 the original owner sold the company to the van Heerden family, who officially took over as of May 2008 and have since managed to grow it into what it is today.
Rayno has created and maintained excellent relationships with motor manufacturers.
Thanks to him, Planetworld is a supplier to the likes of Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Ford, Subaru, Datsun, KIA, Haval and Toyota to mention a few. Along with his team, Rayno sources products then, working closely with the manufacturer, helps develop and customise them to suit the South African market. To date, he has created inhouse brands – OneNav, Planet Multimedia, Smart Mirror and TyreTech. Rayno credits his obsession with service and his dedication to customer satisfaction to his 15-year career as a waiter. He’s always had an adventurous side enjoying hobbies such as hang gliding, skateboarding, surfing and trail running. As per family tradition, Rayno loves his music and plays a number of instruments, even having composed a few of his own original songs.
