The original Halo JC 3 was designed by legendary audio designer John Curl, and he also did the honors with the JC 3+.
The new model includes a whole raft of improvements over the original, beginning with variable MC load impedance adjustment of 50-550 ohms for each channel using dual gang potentiometers specially made for Parasound by Vishay. This enables precise adjustment to optimize the sound of any MC cartridge. Vishay custom builds these potentiometers for Parasound, and John Curl agreed to adjustable input load only if Parasound used Vishay pots. Getting Vishay to make the pots wasn’t an easy deal. Vishay is a large company, and six months of the JC 3+ development time was spent in negotiations with them to build the custom potentiometers for Parasound. So this is a very big deal indeed.
Parasound is very proud of their new Halo JC5. This is their new 400 watt per channel stereo power amplifier, and is the latest achievement in Parasound’s long history of value engineering combined with the design skill of audio legend John Curl.
Over the years, the John Curl-designed JC1 monoblock has garnered more honors and awards than any other amplifier, making it the benchmark for performance and value. In the meantime, customers have been asking for a no-compromise stereo amplifier alternative to save money and space. So they presented John with this ambitious challenge: Distill the essence of two JC1 monoblocks into a single chassis stereo amplifier with a more attractive price.
The result is the profoundly powerful and supremely musical JC5.John Curl’s signature is discreetly imprinted on its front panel, honouring his considerable role in its development. The JC5 will delight the ears (and the wallets) of serious audiophiles and music lovers alike. With exquisite performance and compelling value, the JC5 is the new amplifier benchmark of 2018 – and of many years to come.
Five years in development, the new JC1+ monoblock amplifier is the ultimate achievement of Parasound and legendary designer John Curl.
